10 ways to attend a conference without being there.

With so many empowerment workshops and conferences popping up all over the country, there's no way you can attend them all.  Matter fact, unless you hit the lotto, anyone who even tries will go broke trying to do so.

I heard of a organization called Blogalicious in 2016.  When it came across my timeline, it was RIGHT AFTER they had their conference.  I went to their site, their Facebook page, Twitter, and IG.  I fell in like with the organization from the start.  I had made up in my mind that 2017 was going to be my first year.  I so desperately wanted to attend a conference called Blogalicious in Miami this year.

At first the timing was perfect for my schedule.  That is until we found out that my sisters due date was close to it.  Not only that, my only brother was coming home from his deployment in the Middle East in October.   So I didn't want to risk being away and not being able to attend the Homecoming and Baby shower.  So hesitantly, I had to let go of the idea of attending.

I always say, God does everything for a reason.  A week before the actual conference – Hurricane Irma hit Miami!!  I'm already a newbie at traveling and flying.  That would have shaken me right that there.

So I became ok with the idea not going.

With the evolve of Social media and the internet, I found a way to still be apart without being there.  Here's how you can too.

For my story telling example, I'm going to use  Be Blogalious as my example.

  1. 1. Followed every Social Media avenue I possible could with the Conference.
    1. Twitter
    2. Facebook
    3. Instagram
    4. YouTube
    5. Snapchat
    6. Conference Webpage

  1. 2 . Follow the speakers on their social pages.
    1. Sign up for their freebies
    2. Watch videos for related content

  1.  3. Start looking for the Hashtag (#) associated with Conference.
    1. i.e.) #blogalious9  and #tribeup
    2. The hashtag is your gateway in!

  1. 4. As you get closer to the date – Make sure you go on the Conference's Social              media sites and click that "alert" and 'notification" button . This will you to get         an alert every time they GO LIVE, Snap or make a post. This is your inside –                 Courtside seating !!!  No worries, you can always go back and remove the alerts       afterwards if you choose.

  1. 5.  Set your alarm for the day before Conference start date!
    1. This will allow you to check some of those behind the scenes moments from the speakers and staffers that are involved.

  1.  6. Peeking in as much as you can on Live video and SnapChats
    1. Every little bit helps
    2. This will also allow you to get the vibe and feel

  1. 7. At the end of the entire conference, grab a notebook, search the hashtags and        START TAKING NOTES!!!

  1.  8. Weeks or a few months later, go to the sites website for conference pics and            recaps. Also check out YouTube for recaps from attendees. In other words, give        them time to recoop then recap. I have found some attendees do their own              recap and sidebar interviews with other attendees.

  1. 9.  Review all you notes and then prepare to – BOSS UP!!!!!

  2. 10. Lastly - save the date – or season of the conference so that you can start saving your coins to attend next year's conference LIVE!!!!!  Although modern technology gives us a pretty good feel..  There's nothing more effective that being right there in the midst!!!

If no hashtag can be found before the conference starts, wait a few hours into the conference.  Then go on Social media and search  the organizers and conference name.  It will generate a list of posts and tweets that are sure to provide a hashtag you can follow.  Save the hashtags in a file for later review.

Hashtags also allow us the convenience of seeing who else is posting about this event.  This often leads to post/tweets of others who are blogging or doing a write up on the conference.

What are some of the ways you were able to attend a conference WITHOUT being there?  Post your response on my IG and Twitter pages. using the hashtag #zspeaksconference

I can't wait to get back to my absentee conference and absorb more info that will build me to #tribeup, #bossup, and #beblogalicious.

SIDENOTE:
*** This article is just being posted due to a glitch in the autoscheduling of this post.  Please note - The Be Blogalicious Conference is no longer as in previous years.  However I still posted this blog because I really worked on my research!   :-)
